German International School Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon

Our mission is to create lifelong learners who possess the competencies, confidence, and knowledge to meet the challenges that face them. Living in a diverse society and globalized world, we work on graduating students who are contributing members of society, tolerant of others and empowered to shape their own future.

Along with the IB Diploma Programme, the Lebanese National Programme and the official German language Diploma (DSD I, II) are offered. Students have the possibility to audit the IB Diploma Programme for subjects with German as a Response Language, namely Biology and History, in addition to the German A Language and Literature course, allowing students to attain a bilingual IB Diploma, which is considered equivalent to the German Abitur. As part of having internationalism as a core component of the curriculum,
students are offered English, German, Arabic, French, and Spanish.

Students learning experience is inspired through the implementation of advanced ICT. Grades 7-12 use their PC-Tablets that replace hard-copy books and copybooks, and are connected to Interactive Whiteboards in the classrooms. Grades 1-6 use Interactive Whiteboards, allowing interactive learning. Classrooms are fully networked, to allow students access to the widest and most relevant information available. Through these high-tech classrooms, competencies are promoted and strengthened, which are important for the future life of our students, such as independence and self-responsibility, teamwork, communication skills, critical thinking, and a high degree of self-organization.
